We had our 20 week ultrasound today.  It’s definitely a girl, although I am not posting the proof here, because I still can’t decide whether or not that’s inappropriate.  I am leaning towards not, but I bet Q would think it is, so I’ll go with him on this one.
Anyway, everything is measuring what it’s supposed to and all visible organs seem to be working.  She weighs just under a pound (14oz).
More good news:  My scale at home must be broken because the Dr. only shows I’ve gained 13lbs (I thought it was 18 and had started to worry that something was wrong).
Now I can start putting things in the baby book I bought!

Vera is the goldfish and you’re the plastic bag of water insulating her from the cold, new, aquarium.
— Q, kind of making my point in the pool last night.  It was too cold for my taste, and the sun wasn’t out, which made it worse, but he guilted me into going anyway.  We had this conversation shortly after I jumped in and started cursing him for trying to freeze our baby.

GPOYW - Stay Puft Marshmallow Man edition
Yesterday, I asked Heather to take my 20 week picture, and since Mills’ new favorite pastime is taking unflattering pictures of coworkers with his fish-eye lens, he seized the opportunity.  (P.S.  I do not have two chins)!

Maybe it's not the only reason...

Is it wrong that I want to eat a bunch of candy just to feel the baby kick more?

So, I checked my bank account this morning, and realized two things:

I spent a lot of money this weekend (I already knew that, so I guess technically, it was not a realization).
There were 4 sets of same-dollar transactions that all showed up right next to each other.  I can’t wait to check tomorrow and see what they were (I could look at my receipts, but that’s not as much fun).

Simple fun

Yesterday, my whole family was in Donaldsonville for my great aunt’s funeral.  It was a sad morning, but she was ready to go (her husband died in 2005, and she hadn’t really wanted to live since).  Father Phil gave an excellent eulogy - I really wish it made sense for me to live in Donaldsonville, just so I could go to Ascension Catholic for Mass every Sunday.  He is by far the best priest I’ve ever encountered.

Anyway, in true Hebert fashion, we had tons of food, and a great afternoon.  My cousin Mike’s daughter’s 1st birthday party was already scheduled for yesterday at 3:00, so everyone just kind of hung around until then.  The party was at the cabana, and although the water was still pretty cold, we all swam (yes, elle and nudawn, even me!  My maternity suit hasn’t arrived yet, so I wore a bikini, which was hilarious.  My favorite part was that it was too small up top - FINALLY)!

After the kids played games, there were a few prizes left, including bubble wands, so naturally, I asked Nicole if I could have one, and she said yes.  I stood on the diving board and blew bubbles while my brothers, cousins, and Q tried to shoot them with water guns.  We probably did this for over an hour.  It reminded me of those endless summer days at the pool when we were kids.  I was sad when the sun started going down and it was time to leave.  (Partially, because I knew we had to go home, and our house is a WRECK!  We retiled the kitchen last weekend, but didn’t get to grout until Thursday, and are in the waiting period for the grout to cure before we can seal.  It’s been a big pain, and I think it’s safe to say that we will never be do-it-yourselfers again.  Anyway, our entire kitchen contents (fridge and oven included) are in the living room.  NO FUN!  Hopefully, we will be able to put them back tonight, but we’ll have to pull them back out again when we get new shoe molding, but that will be next weekend).

The good news is that we’ll be back at the cabana next weekend for another family get-together.  Mike and Nicole are having their marriage blessed, and we’re having a crawfish boil, which nudawn will be attending.  Should be pretty hilarious.  Then it’s off to Jazz Fest in New Orleans!

soulDecision - Faded.  Circa 2000.

I’ve reblogged this before, but that won’t stop me from doing it again.  I actually had no idea that they had (limited) success outside of Canada.

hahahahahahahahahahaha

Reblogging for Courtney.  This song will forever remind me of us living together in college.

Cool Story, Sydney!

Today, at Subway, the man in front of me asked for brown mustard and light mayonnaise on his sandwich.  The “sandwich artist” thought he said “white mayonnaise,” so he put regular mayo on there (kind of a lot in my opinion, although really, I think any is too much, so I am not a good judge).  When the customer called him out on it, he said “oh, I thought you said white,” then pulled out the light mayo and put another 3 tablespoons of mayo on the sandwich.

I am sure that’s the solution the customer had in mind!  ha!

Oh, and smooth move serving the cake on Styrofoam plates on Earth Day, jerk! I’m sure you had something to do with that too.

Nicki  (via nudawn)

For the record, I had nothing to do with that. However, I do consider it a failure on my part because maybe if I’d gotten the newsletter (which featured an article on Earth Day) out a day earlier, the person responsible for buying the plates to serve cake to ingrates like Nicki would have seen it and thought twice before making the purchase.

My Voodoo Queen Hibiscus this morning. The plant is still small, but the blooms are amazing! I need to plant it in the ground before I accidentally kill it.

Who knew grilled cheese could be so twee?

So that’s how they get Jesus’ face burned into a piece of toast.

OK, fine, do want. But…is that lettuce on a grilled sandwich? FAIL.

I reblogged this for Sydvish……you know you want it.

Yes, I totally want it!  I wish it were easier to use; I want nearly effortless pretty toast.

Mills is an even bigger nerd than I thought (Part II)

  • Syd: Do you think Crystalynn will get it?
  • Mills: She did not, but then replied to another email asking if it was from LOTR. I was like, LOL, more like ST:TNG. JK, but SRSLY: WTF?

Mills is an even bigger nerd than I thought...

behold the following email exchange:

Original email:
Ring found in 3rd floor ladies restroom. Please come to my desk to claim.
Thank you, Crystalynn

Response:
If it says, “One ring to rule them all, one ring to find them, one ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them” in Mordor script, two things:

1. DO NOT PUT THE RING ON
2. Hide it, and we’ll come at nightfall to retreive it.

Thanks, Mills

Why she was late.

nickihebert:

I have been at work for 40 minutes and I have received 7 emails from Syd.  So far this morning she has registered for baby items on potterybarn.com, picked out her moms wedding cake, asked everyone how to tear down her sister-in-laws self esteem, went through the act of ripping all self esteem that Kate ever had away from her, and planned her unborn child’s first birthday.

NICKI!  I actually got to work at 7:06 this morning, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!  I did so much work between 7-8:30, I decided to reward myself with a little online daydreaming.  (The PB Registry was done last night).  Oh, and Kate took my email well!  Thanks to those that answered “C.”  I think it was the best answer too, and it worked.  She said that she can make stand up letters for the bookshelf, then asked me for the measurements.  All is well (and Nicki is a jerk - she must be learning from Mills).
