Pregnancy Update

32 weeks/8 months pregnant!!

I had a Dr’s appt today, so I will mix that news in with the regular update.

  • Weight: 178 (yikes!  However, I was instructed to gain only 2lbs between appts this time, and I gained 0, so yay for me)!
  • BP: 110/62 (up from 106/60 last time)
  • Baby’s HR: 152 (up from 145 last time)
  • Baby’s approximate weight: 4lbs (Dr’s estimate from my fundal height, which is right where it’s supposed to be).
  • Next appt: August 7th, no ultrasound then; I think she’s going to make me wait until my Aug 21st appt
  • Feeling: great!  Just out of breath and tired, but nothing I can’t handle
  • Fun stuff: baby kicks all the time, especially in the middle of the night.  Last night it felt like she was having a dance party.
  • Recent purchases: nursing pajamas and bras- yuck!  Just when I thought I was done having to buy stuff…
  • How I’m celebrating my tiny weight victory:  ordering Chinese take-out!  YUM!

Why I Was Late

This will be similar to yesterday’s post.

I couldn’t sleep last night (got up at 3:30 and stayed up until 6:00 thinking about things.  I got hung up on the holidays and trying to remember what year this was in the rotation.  I couldn’t remember, so I got my computer and pulled it up.  Basically, we do a my family/in-law rotation every year, so my brothers, step-sister, and step-brothers can all be together for as many holidays as possible.  For example, in 2008, we had in-law Thanksgiving, and Christmas with my family (we still celebrated Christmas with in-laws, just not on Christmas or Christmas Eve).  This year, it’s in-law Christmas and Thanksgiving with my family (which is on a double-rotation because of my divorced parents.  In 2007, we had lunch with my mom on Thanksgiving Day, and lunch with my Dad on the Friday after, so in 2009, we’ll reverse that).  I put this rotation into place in 2006, the year we got married, so that we could encourage everyone to get on the same schedule, and hopefully make the holidays less hectic.  Anyway, I couldn’t sleep until I figured out the plan for this year.  Now that’s done!).  Of course I fell asleep 30 minutes before my alarm is supposed to go off, only I pushed it back to 7:30 today, knowing I wouldn’t be at work on time, but I decided I needed the sleep.  I got up at 7:30, ate, got dressed, and got to work for 9:30.  Not as bad as yesterday!

I am taking a 1/2 day because I have a Dr’s appt this afternoon.  Hopefully, I will get some fun news!

We just got our 2009 Hurricane Preparedness Manual at work, and it got me thinking about hurricanes in general, but more specifically, hurricane names.  This 225 article led me to this site, and to the above chart.  I really hope there aren’t any major storms this year, but as the 225 article suggests, it’s looking like there will be.  If we get word that one is coming though, we’re definitely going to Texas this year…I don’t want to be home with no power and a newborn!

Why I Was Late

Well, despite my best efforts last night, I ended up being late anyway.  2 hours late!

I woke up this morning on time (6:30), but was VERY tired and just wanted to go back to sleep, so I let myself lie in bed until 7:15, because theoretically, it only takes me an hour to get dressed, eat breakfast, and leave the house, so that would have put me right on time at 8:30.  Naturally, things didn’t happen quite so quickly.  I woke up again at 7:15, but was still pretty tired, so I went to the kitchen and drank a glass of orange juice, then ate a bowl of Kashi warm cinnamon cereal (kind of gross, but I thought I’d give it a try).  After I ate, I sat in bed with my computer, thinking I’d just rest for a few minutes before getting up officially.  I took care of some business (not work business, home business - ebay, health insurance, etc), and then finally got out of the bed around 8:30.  I texted work to let them know that I was moving slowly, and that I’d be late.  Then, I began the process of getting dressed.  I took all the shortcuts I could - only halfway drying my hair, ponytail, etc, but I just couldn’t get it together!  I was out of breath just walking back and forth down the hall (the baby is stopping me from filling my lungs properly, and it really takes a toll)!  Anyway, once it was time for me to actually put clothes on, I realized that I’d completely forgotten to shave my legs.  I couldn’t wear jeans again, because by the end of the day (when my stomach swells), my jeans are uncomfortable when sitting for long periods of time.  Since that’s what I do every day, and since I am absolutely not buying any more maternity clothes, I was stuck with either capris or a dress.  Capris and most of my dresses would require a leg shave.  I pulled out my long, blue dress, and put it on, but then realized I needed a sweater, since the sleeves are “illegal” on the dress (they have to be at least 3” wide; company policy).  Of course, I couldn’t find my white sweater (needed to be white because the dress is blue and white).  I had a choice:  shave my legs (HUGE pain, especially since I’d already showered, and put on make-up, so showering again wasn’t an option.  That means, I’d have to take a bath, which is fine, except for the getting out of the tub part) or look for the sweater.  I chose to look for the sweater, which took a little while.  After looking everywhere else, I finally found it at the top of my closet -strange.  Anyway, I left shortly after finding it, and got to work for 10:30.

gpoyWTF?  Red socks with grey stirrup pants and a flannel shirt?  I am not even sure what year this was taken, where it was taken, or how old I am - ha!
This is just a taste of what you can see by clicking here.  I had to scan a bunch of pictures from high school for our class reunion slideshow, and a friend emailed me a few more, so I decided it would make a fun gpoyw post.  I know this is early, but if I’d waited until tomorrow morning, I might have made myself late!

Why I Was Late

I have to do this really quickly, because our system malfunctioned yesterday, and as a result, our department is pretty backed up on work, so I’ll be busy all day.  Anyway, I was all set to be on time, but then walking out the door, this girl from high school texted me a question about the class reunion.  While responding to her, I remembered that I was supposed to email the reunion questionnaire to this guy from my class who lost his.  I got my macbook and opened it, expected this task to only take about 5 minutes total.  For some reason, I had to watch the rainbow wheel for about 15 minutes before it opened Mail.  Once it did open, it ran pretty slowly, but then after that, everything was fine.  Weird…I don’t normally have problems like that with my computer.

So, that’s why I was late!

Why I Am Late, and Why I Am Leaving Early

I am sitting in the car repair shop AGAIN!! This is now my 6th trip here for the same car (2004 VW Jetta) in the past 6 mos. It all started back in early spring (?), when my car overheated. Since then, it’s been a battle against the check engine light, which seems to prefer the on position to the off. I thought I was finished 2 weeks ago, after we had the catalytic converter changed, but this is my second trip back since then. Last time only cost $32, and this time will only cost $37 (they have stopped charging me labor for small things, since I’ve spent $2700 since my first visit). Anyway, last time I was here, the owner said, “you’re a pleasure to look at, but I hope we don’t see you again for a while.” Unfortunately for both of us, I’m back. He said that he thinks the sensors (the one they changed last time, and the one they’re changing today) were damaged when the car overheated, because they don’t normally need to be changed. He also said that he can’t think of anything else that would have been affected, so this really should be my last visit for a long time. Let’s hope he’s right.

I am leaving work early because Courtney and I have a date to see Harry Potter 6 at 7:00, so we’re going to dinner beforehand. I guess since I’m not at work yet, I’ll just work a straight 7 hr shift, and not take a lunch (we are getting free burgers today anyway-yay 30th anniversary).

This is hilarious, because when I read this post the other day, I immediately thought of this movie, and my indifference to it, which elicited scorn from an old boyfriend (who sucks, btw, and I should have realized that long before we watched this movie together).  Anyway, his speech to me was basically an extended version of the caption above.  What a tool.

Why I Was Late

This morning, Q and I had a meeting with the health insurance guy at his office.  It took a little over an hour, then I had to go home and do a little research before choosing the plan that will work best for us once I have the baby.  That all took longer than I thought, because I had to call several places (including the pediatrician to find out how many visits babies typically make to the Dr outside of their regular well-baby visits, which are covered at 100%).  Anyway, once that was done, I had to call AT&T to straighten out our account.  (Last week, I switched to a family talk plan, and added a line for Q, but for some reason, the website opened a separate account for him, so I just had to fix that).  I was about to leave for work (would have been late anyway), when my old high school friend D responded to an email I sent him over the weekend, apologizing for something I did a very long time ago.  (Quick back-story - while cleaning out an old filing cabinet on Saturday, I found a letter he’d written expressing sadness/anger about something I’d done.  It was embarrassing to read, because I remember the incident very clearly, and it’s one of the things I regret most about that particular year of my life.  Anyway, I thought about it all day Saturday, and decided that I wouldn’t feel better unless I apologized, so I sent D an email).  I was excited to get his response, and naturally, he barely remembered the incident, and reminisced about how everything in high school seemed so dramatic.  Since we hadn’t talked in a while, he included a lot of info about his life now, and had a lot of questions for me about mine, so I decided to respond to his email.  It took me about 30 minutes, but I had a lot to say (as usual).  I am glad I emailed him, because it’s fun to reconnect with old friends.  Q got a kick out of the whole situation; especially since I felt so guilty after 12 years.  So, that’s why I was late!

I have to stop this bus..

Y’all (ND, if it makes you laugh, you can picture me saying this while eating a bag of cheetos), I PROMISE YOU THAT I AM NOT HURT, OFFENDED, OR AT ALL AFFECTED BY THE COMMENT!  In fact, I actually doubled over laughing when he said it (as did Will), because it was clearly a joke, and part of one of our never-serious lunchtime conversations.  If I thought Mills was serious, (or if I took him or myself that seriously) we would not be friends.  I promise.  As I mentioned, I think I look great (although I discovered today that I can’t buckle my seatbelt with one hand anymore [my arm doesn’t reach]), and so does Q, so I’m happy.  I am thrilled to be pregnant!!

As much as I like getting Mills yelled at by the ladies of tumblr, I’m starting to feel bad for this one.  How’s this:  you had to be there?!  ;)

telling a pregnant woman she's unattractive is the emotional equivalent of telling a room full of women on their period watching sex & the city that they've gained some weight.

nudawn:

oof.  even in jest.  i’m so dissapointed in you mills.

Nudawnny, you’re my knight in shining armor.

Seriously though, I don’t really take much Mills says seriously.  It’s rare that we have a conversation that isn’t loaded with bs, so as bad as it sounds, this REALLY doesn’t hurt my feelings.

Q thinks I’m hot, so that works for me!
