I'm 50!
You may remember this post from last week, when I announced that I would be attending Girls’ Night Out the Musical here in BR with a group of girls. Anyway, it was last night. We had drinks and appetizers beforehand, then went in around 7:45. Needless to say, the place was packed with ladies! In fact, (and I know this is accurate because took a thorough count from above) there were only 3 men in the whole audience. I actually couldn’t believe there were that many! They were all married and in their 50’s or 60’s (my best estimation). I absolutely could not believe their wives made them go (because that was clearly the situation). Although I had a blast, I would not have wished that experience on Q for anything! Being the only 3 guys there did have a few perks I guess, the main one being that there was absolutely no line for the bathroom (the ladies’ line was out the door). In fact, one of them made a joke about it as he zipped past all of us on his way in. The show itself was funny. It had some seriously cheesy moments, but it also had some hilarious moments. It was filled with woman jokes (natch), some good, some vulgar, most funny. Overall, I am glad I went. There were 5 different archetypes, and of course, I was immediately pegged as the conservative schoolteacher with glasses that lets loose when she gets drunk . I can’t complain though, she was the most entertaining dancer, and in fact, did some of the moves that Courtney and I used in the choreography for ”Holding Out for a Hero” in the school play last year (the girl “did karaoke” to that song in the show). Anyway, tons of ladies were standing up and dancing during the songs, which were all popular crowd favorites. They also danced a lot during intermission. My favorite of these ladies was celerating her 50th birthday and kept shouting “I’m 50!” which cracked me up and made me think of this.
Anyway, Allison, Kelley, Aimee, and Julie, I had a blast with yall . Thanks!!!
